Between 8pm and 9pm, Top Gear averaged 7.9m viewers, a 28% share of the audience. It peaked between 8:45pm and 9pm, when footage of Hammond's crash in a jet-powered vehicle was aired for the first time, with 8.6m viewers - a 30% share of the audience - tuning in.
ITV1's Wild At Heart took second place for the hour with 6.8m viewers, a 24% audience share. The first hour of Celebrity Big Brother's final - which saw Danielle Lloyd, Jack Tweed and Ian Watkins evicted from the Big Brother house - was watched by 4.9m viewers, a 17% share of the audience.
So two programmes that we've featured here in the past went head to head on 28/01/07. and the controversial reality show lost out.
Instead the viewing public opted to watch the Hamster's half arsed attempt to plough a field at 230 mph.
Does this tell us that the previous item we've run asking for your suggestions for the next generation of reality shows actually isn't that far fetched?
Are people just fed up with Big Brother?
Did you watch either of the shows?
Tell us which and why below.

Following the crash Hammond was put on light duties.
It was certainly good to see them back.

Top Gear for me (but I would have watched it anyway). CBB might have got more viewers if they'd had the balls to give the racists more of a grilling when they came out.

I watched Top Gear. Pure TV gold, like John Noakes coming off his bobsleigh.
