But I Was Reading The Highway Code...
A West MIdlands bus driver is facing the sack after a passenger filmed him reading a book at the wheel.
Holding the paperback in his hands, he steered the double decker along a busy dual carriageway. The driver was suspended by bosses at National Express West Midlands after the one-minute clip was posted on YouTube. He faces disciplinary action, and possibly the sack, for endangering passenger safety.
His antics were filmed as he drove the bus out of Birmingham city centre along the busy Bristol Road dual carriageway through Selly Oak. He even carried on reading when he pulled in at stops - only taking his eye off the pages for a moment to handle fares.
One shocked passenger said: "The guy was in a world of his own, totally absorbed in his book. There were a lot of passengers on the bus but it didn't bother him at all. He was literally steering with his elbows and glancing between the book and the road ahead. He could easily have caused a major accident."
A National Express spokesman said: "Immediate action was taken to suspend the driver who will now face disciplinary action. It is not appropriate to predict the outcome but an incident of this type is likely to lead to a dismissal. It is completely unacceptable for any driver to behave in this manner."
Amazing! Someone in Selly Oak reading a book!

They could tell when he was reading "Speed"...
