Lies, Damned Lies, And Interviews
A man lost his chance at a Washington state job when a guide to fooling polygraphs was found in his car, the State Patrol said.
Officials told KOMO-TV in Seattle that the man was at State Patrol headquarters in Olympia being interviewed for a civilian management job when an employee saw a book, "How to Beat the Lie Detector," in the car parked next to hers. The man was undergoing a polygraph at the time, and officials determined the car and book were his.
"They gave him an opportunity to let them know if he'd looked at some research materials or not and he apparently said 'no'." The man was told he would no longer be considered for the job.
Capt. Jay Cabezuela said past mistakes don't automatically disqualify someone from the State Patrol. "If you disclose fully and speak openly you also have a chance to show us you've learned from your mistakes," he said. "But we have no tolerance for someone who tries to deceive us."
God grief! Polygraph testing for what amounts to a local government job!

Would I lie to you?
