Scheduled on the evenings of March 10 and 11, the dedicated weekend will showcase the multi-channel premiere of his latest TV comedy creation, Saxondale, alongside classic episodes of I’m Alan Partridge, Coogan’s Run, The Tony Ferrino Phenomenon and Three Fights, Two Weddings and a Funeral, personally selected by Coogan himself.
North said: “Steve Coogan is a living legend and hugely popular with our male viewers, so it’s a real coup for us to working with him. This weekend is a great example of what we do really well - taking cult shows and adding our own twist in the form of specially commissioned content to make it fresh again.”
So, as a male and an occasional viewer of UKTV I must be part of a different demographic as I don't think of Mr Coogan as a living legend or hugely popular.
Anyway I'm sure a lot of people do like him.
Personally I preferred 'Knowing Me, Knowing You' when it was on the radio. It wasn't so obvious that the only guests were Patrick Marber and Rebecca Front.

Actually, I'm the funny one...

They were good. The problem with Saxondale was he was trying to be deep and thespy, attempting to put a depth of character and backstory that just wasn't necessary in a half hour sitcom. Forget the history and concentrate on the jokes.

Those Paul Calf video diaries were TV classics

Alan Partridge I never got into. Paul Calf wasn't too bad as I work in Manchester and that character was very well observed. I managed to sit through one episode of Saxondale and the rest seemed like too much effort. Never heard of Tony Ferrino.
