A Georgia city has adopted an amendment to its disorderly conduct ordinance banning residents from wearing their pants more than 3 inches below their hips.
The Jonesboro City Council voted 5 to 1 Monday to approve the amendment, which also applies to shorts and skirts.
Maddox said police will enforce the amendment, which will go into effect at the end of next week, by giving warnings to violators and issuing citations to those who refuse to pull up their pants.
"People in Jonesboro don't want to look at other people's drawers," Mayor Luthor Maddox said. "We get visitors from all over the world, and we don't need to show them our underwear."
At least they've got underwear to show!
