Keep Pulling, I Think We Can Stretch It Out A Bit More
Should have stopped after the first one?

The Guardian reports that director Jay Roach is aiming to bring back the entire cast from 2004's Meet the Fockers, including Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand.
Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers were huge box office successes, taking a combined total of almost £434 million worldwide.
Oh dear Lord who is there left to meet? Meet The Aunty? Meet The Neighbours? Meet A Group Of People Trying To Cash In?
Meet The Parents was funny and bears watching a few times. Meet The Fockers was OK but I've yet to bother watching it a second time even though I've got it on DVD.
Honestly, how much more can be made from that scenario? I'm sure it will drag in the punters but am I the only one that thinks the dead horse can only take so much flogging?
Are there any other franchises that lost steam after the first one?

Bad news, the damn cat wants 15%.
I would have thought Battlefield Earth had the best ending. Most of the audience were probably elated at the fact it had finished and they didn't have to sit through any more of that crap
You have to admit... (26-02-2007 17:26:52)
It's about the best ending to any sci-fi film there's ever been, on so many levels.
Oh, apart from Galaxy Quest, where they save the Thermians at the end. Class.

I voted for Planet of the Apes more because the sequels were better rather than the ending being so good.

But surely the scene with the Statue of Liberty has to be a final scene. How can you go on from that?
garethwi (26-02-2007 10:43:29)
I voted Planet of the Apes.

I panicked then; I thought they were planning a Teletubbies film.
What about... (24-02-2007 15:02:07)
teletubbies
Talk about milking something. Obviously it's only me who has noticed, but they even try to get away with repeating the story within each episode!

Exactly. The Matrix - excellent, groundbreaking and visionary. No. 2 - a few good set pieces but ultimately disappointing. No. 3 - didn't make it through to the end.

Also, referring to the poll, I voted that the Matrix should have stopped after the first one, but what I really think is that they should have made a sequel to the matrix, and not leather goddesses of phobos.

A bear does indeed shit in the woods, and in fact, I think that's where they have found the new script.
