I Always Said Terry Wogan Was The Spawn Of The Devil

Swiss Christians are calling for the country's Eurovision Song Contest entry to be banned amid claims it is Satanic.

The Federal Democratic Union (FDU) has handed in a 49,000-signature petition to the government demanding action be taken on DJ Bobo's Vampires Are Alive.

The FDU claims the 39-year-old singer trivialises hell and Satan in the song which has 'occult lyrics' such as "Free your spirit after midnight, sell your soul" and "From heaven to hell, enjoy the ride".

Thomas Feuz, head of the FDU's petition committee, said: "We have nothing against DJ Bobo but the song has a destructive meaning and we want it stopped."

DJ Bobo, whose real name is René Baumann, complained: "It's ludicrous and absurd. The words are made up...everyone has the right to say what they want."

But Swiss-German radio stations have already said they are refusing to play Vampires Are Alive - not because it's 'Satanic' - but because it's 'rubbish'.

Good grief! If songs were banned from the Eurovision Song Contest because they were rubbish the whole thing would be over in half an hour.

...and sounds infinitely more entertaining.

Indeed, it they got rid of all the crap songs, the whole show would only be the Dutch score-giver Paul de Leeuw trying to get off with the male host via satellite (I might add, a great source of national pride here in the Low Countries).
