He's Bean Funnier
Mr Bean has been named Britain's favourite comic character in an online poll.
Bean, played by Rowan Atkinson in the series of the same name, topped a poll of 2,000 users of the Windows Live Space website. Atkinson took 15 per cent of the vote and his Blackadder character was also in the list at fifth. Sacha Baron Cohen and Matt Lucas also made the top 10 twice.
Voters were also asked for their favorite television comedy moment. Coming out on top was the Only Fools and Horses scene when Del Boy goes to lean on a bar and misses, followed by Monty Python’s dead parrot sketch then David Brent’s dance in The Office.
The top 10 favourite characters:
1. Mr Bean
2. Del Boy
3. Borat
4. Basil Fawlty
5. Blackadder
6. Ali G
7. Vicky Pollard
8. Lou And Andy
9. Father Dougal
10. Alan Partridge
Where are The Goodies, Steptoe and Son, The Goons, Dad's Army, Hancock, etc. I could go on.

The blood donor was loads funnier than the parrot sketch, and I totally agree with you about Trigger; a perfect character cast wonderfully.

The bar scene from 'Fools and Horses' deserves the top spot. The timing and commitment to the scene is spot on. Roger Lloyd Pack's reaction as Trigger is priceless; he's the unsung hero of that series.

Quite. I mean it's not exactly up there with 'The Blood Donor' is it.

I imagine it was quite funny the first time around, but to refer to it as a classic defies all logic.

I found the parrot sketch vaguely amusing the first time I saw it. I've since seen it being fumbled through dozens of times in student reviews. I doesn't get any better...

The sodding dead parrot sketch!?!?! Second best comedy moment!!?!?!?!?!?! What brain dead retards voted for that unfunny dross? Well, probably the same brain dead retards who voted for Mr. Bean.
As for Borat being on the list; he's hardly a character, more a single joke stretched out to its extreme.

I must agree with you that Fletcher was excellent as well as Arkwright and Dick Emery and all those old comedians. Blackadder was funny but Mr Bean is just juvenile crap.

One of my all time favourites has to be Norman Stanley Fletcher from Porridge. I must admit that I've never really got Sacha Baron Cohen and I think Rowan Atkinson was funnier as Blackadder.
