Potty Training Lesson One... Feet Stay Outside.

A team of firefighters had to be called out to rescue a toddler who had got her foot stuck in a potty.

Three firefighters were called to help three year-old Rebecca Rogers after she got her foot stuck in the potty's handle. Using specialist cutting equipment, the crew from Chirk, near Wrexham, freed her after 15 minutes.

Her father Kevin Rogers, had just bought the potty to start toilet training his daughter. Mr Rogers, 46, said Rebecca was playing with her two-year-old sister Daniella when he suddenly heard her scream.

He said: "I heard this horrible scream but thought the girls were just fighting as usual. When the scream carried on I realised something was really wrong so I charged into the living room, only to find that Rebecca had her foot lodged in the handle of the potty. She was hysterical."

He added: "I tried my best to release the foot, but it was really stuck in there, so I got some sharp scissors from the kitchen and then some shears from the garden, but it was too dangerous to cut her free so I phoned the fire service.I never expected a full fire crew in the truck to arrive, but it did. It was really embarrassing when three firemen came into the house."

Chris Nott, County Operations Manager for North Wales Fire and Rescue, said: "This type of call is very infrequent and unusual. The crew worked well and we were very happy that the youngster was safe and well."

I feel a lifetime of therapy coming on...

Moving to the big potty was a disaster.
