The black thong, attached to a helium balloon, had got stuck in power cables above a croquet lawn and caused a short circuit when it rained, reports the BBC.
Andrew Barrow, of electricity company Central Networks, said: "Flying objects do occasionally cause us problems, but in this case it was more risqué than risky."
He also offered some sound advice: "If people do see something on the lines, don't try and get them down yourselves - that is when it becomes dangerous".
The prime suspects for the unusual flying object are members of the local polo club, who recently held their annual ball.
Member Emma Rose admitted: "It may never be proven exactly where this came from, but it could have been our party. We think it may have been a joke, with someone taking the item from an overnight bag and setting it on its way."
